Home Boarding

SORRY WE ARE NO LONGER TAKING BOOKINGS FOR HOME BOARDING

A very popular alternative to kennels - home from home.

Hilltop Cottage is situated on a quiet, rural lane well away from any main roads and surrounded by open countryside perfect for dog walking.

Your dog stays in my home, as one of the family, and receives individual care and attention with all the comforts of home. With up to four walks a day, a Rayburn to dry off by, their own sofa and wood burner you can be assured your dog is enjoying their holiday too!

To ensure your pet receives the very best of care I only board one dog at a time and follow your dog's normal daily routine for feeding, exercise and medication (if required). Daily grooming and health checks are included too.

I am happy to care for dogs with special needs including those requiring treatment for diabetes.

Daily texts or emails can be sent to keep you updated on your pet's well-being.

Guidelines for Home Boarders

Home boarding is most suitable for the quieter or older dog or those who do not settle well in a kennel environment.

All new home boarders are asked to come for an initial visit, to allow me to get to know you and your dog, and to arrange at least one short stay to ensure they will be happy and settled with us. I have found that the extra time spent at this stage is very important, allowing your dog to get to know us before being left for a longer period of time and helping to prevent separation anxiety.

Proof of full vaccination including Kennel Cough vaccination (intra nasal) is required. Vaccinations must be completed at least one month before your dogs stay.

Your dog must be treated for worms (with Drontal or similar) and fleas (with Frontline or similar) before each visit.

All pet foods and medication to be provided by the client. No extra charge is made for administering medication, this includes those pets being treated for diabetes.

Please provide some bedding, a feeding bowl, special toy, lead and collar, these familiar items help your dog to settle more quickly. To further reassure your dog during your absence you could also bring an item of clothing too. Throughout your pet's stay a DAP diffuser is used which gives off a calming pheromone to help them settle.

Bitches must be spayed and dogs castrated.

Home boarders must be fully house trained, sociable, family friendly dogs.

Sorry bitches in season, very boisterous or aggressive dogs cannot be accommodated.

Availability during term time only.

Minimum stay 48 hours.

Please give me a call if you would like to know more about home boarding and to discuss your dog's individual requirements.
